Every commission or bespoke project is like a dream come true, it's a rush of creativity and excitement no better words to describe it. I bet it is the same for my clients, after all there has to be trust that I listen and do everything I can to help make their vision come true. Some commissions start with a rough outline and a display idea in regards to contrast between the product and displaying plinth.
That was the case for this Clerkenwell design week 2023 display by Armac Manufacturing.
A thrilling challenge of smooth straight as well as 'wonky' surfaces. Additionally, broken and eroded sides were a must have for contrast.
The concrete needed to be warm by shade but not flat so extra visual texture by using up to six shades of concrete per piece was added.

Below are images from the mockup set up before shipping.
Of completely different nature have been both projects for Lark & Berry Fine Jewellery.
Both commissions have been all about contrast and uniqueness.
Uniqueness meant sculptural textures, unique designs for earring stands and plinths. Contrast was achieved by using different pale greys as well as very strong dark greys.
It was a delight working these out. While I had to adhere to a detailed list of shapes and design with quantities I also had the freedom of designing a cohesive jewellery display and prop set by textures, combinations and finish.

It is not my design but I had the pleasure to help make a wish come true to have these sculptural chess pieces made from concrete.
While every piece looks sleek and minimal archiving this smooth glamorous look was of no simple matter. Each shape required custom built moulding and special layering ensured a smooth finish while keeping the unique 'imperfect' concrete character alive.
It is simply due to the fact that this was a private commission that these images are from right before these shapes have been shipped to their designer and new owner Malcolm.
Thank you for trusting me and loving my creative craftsmanship, it is truly a pleasure. Next up on my agenda are more unique jewellery
retail display sets and sculptural eroded plinths. Oh I do love a bit of chisel work, see you soon and don't hesitate to get in touch with
your idea or vision,
Antje
